Welcome to the WWII Escape and Evasion Information Exchange website
This is part of the Conscript Heroes website - which also shares some of the pages - but the emphasis here is on the exchange of information about military escapers and evaders in World War II. The idea is that anyone wanting to find out about escapers, evaders or their helpers can come here and ask about a particular person. If I can't help them myself then perhaps I'll know someone who can, or be able to point them in the right direction to find out more. The exchange part is in the hope that readers will contribute what they know about the subject to the website for others to find.
The Escaper List is a list of some of those who escaped or evaded from enemy territory and got back to the UK. The names are shown in alphabetical order of surnames for easier searching.
The MI9 Report Numbers are for UK and Commonwealth service personnel who returned from enemy or neutral territory to the UK and filed reports with MI9 and/or IS9 - they did not necessarily escape or evade.
The IS9 Report Numbers are for UK and Commonwealth service personnel who returned from enemy or neutral territory and filed reports with IS9 and/or MI9 - they did not necessarily escape or evade.
The MIS-X Report Numbers are for American service personnel who returned from enemy or neutral territory to the UK and filed reports with MIS-X - they did not necessarily escape or evade.
The LIB Report Numbers are for UK and Commonwealth service personnel who (with a couple of exceptions) were liberated from enemy captivity and filed reports with IS9 - they did not necessarily evade before capture.
The Escape Lines page gives brief descriptions of some of the escape lines that helped so many servicemen get home.
The Articles page has stories and other details about escape and evasion.
The Feedback page is used for some of the messages received asking for, or giving, further information about escapers, evaders and their helpers.
The FAQs page tries to answer some of the first questions that people ask about escapers, evaders and escape lines.
The Conscript Heroes button will take you to the main Conscript Heroes website - which also has more Articles.
