Welcome to the ELMS website |
| This non-sectarian, non-political and non-nationalistic Society is dedicated to the individuals and helpers of the Escape Lines who assisted allied escapers and evaders in WW2. We aim to foster relationships between nations and second and third generation escaper, evader and helper families. The Society will assist and give help to the men and women of the WW2 Escape Lines and others who risked their lives for allied escapers and evaders in the cause of freedom. We work to educate and inspire future generations throughout Europe on the role of Escape Lines in WW2. The Society will support historically accurate Freedom Trail routes, assist in the way-marking of routes, support memorials and small voluntary Escape Lines museums in former safe-house villages and mountain areas. We also carry out research to try and build up an historic information archive on all Escape Lines. We are a UK based organisation but we have many friends, members and representatives around the world |

Because we owe them a debt we can never repay |

"The calamity of occupation brings out the worst and the best.
The worst was shameful.
The best was fine, as fine as could be found anywhere."
